Vids of unemulated arcade games

Postby Macaw » Sat Feb 07, 2009 2:47 pm

Vids of unemulated arcade games. I thought this was interesting/unique enough to have its own topic, but if you want GP feel free to delete it and just put them in the stickied vid thread.

Heavy Unit

(the guy plays through a bunch of stages, but not all)
Here

Kaneko, 88'. Shooter where you can turn into a robot. I'm sure many people have played the Mega Drive or PCE ports. Pretty standard shooter but has some great enemy design, gotta love all the insane mini bosses and other unique enemies the game chucks at you.

Tatakae! Big Fighter

(complete run through but not a superplay, he continues)
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Nichibutsu, 89'. Another shooter where you can turn into a robot.... but I really, really liked the look of this one. Its been something I've had my eye on for years but still isn't emulated. The graphics are quite nice, and turning into a robot actually has strategic importance in that you can fire in all directions and can walk on the floor. Level design and boss design is great, and its quite thick with awesome 80's japanese sci fi atmosphere that I love :D . Quite possibly the finest arcade title from the great Nichibutsu (though I'm sure some Galivan fans will disagree :P )

One particularly hilarious aspect though is the mission briefing chick having to literally tell you what kind of 'scrolling' certain stages will have, hahahha.

Vertexer

(attract mode and a short run)
Here

Taito, 93'. Special thanks to Zinger for linking this in an older thread of mine. F-Zero esque racing game that takes place on what appear to be courses in outer space. Looks insanely cool, some of the background effect such as seeing earth go past as you race around looks simply incredible.
Ara Ararauna, Blue and Gold Macaw, 32-34 inches
They are adaptable, and enjoy being in social situations. They readily become adept at performing tricks, and seem to love doing so. Cost:$900-1400

Very nice, esp. Vertexer, which looks like one of the last 2D arcade racer on interesting hardware. Anything in the way of fighters or beat-em-ups?

Too good, I love that game so much and the awesome music makes it even better :D

I searched vids for Legionnaire, Zero Team, Mad Dancing and B.Rap Boys but found nothing, unfortunately.

Anyway, a couple of games I really would want to find videos for are

Arrrgh!
http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=aaargh ... il&id=3353

Dark Chamber
http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=dark-c ... il&id=4008

Dark Chamber in particular seems incredibly mysterious with practically no information on the net.

One of the most energetic and awesome arcade games I've seen. Cant wait to see more footage or at least play it eventually.

I can make some vids of those outside of Mad Dancing of course...

The first two aren't that impressive...

That would be rad, especially for Zero Team considering its the only one I've never seen footage or even proper clean screenshots of. I know you like your girlies, but if you make vids see if you can bring yourself use the 'big dude' of the game ;)

I forgot about this one. I love the 'crosshair shooter' genre, and Gamshara seems cool in its theme and also has a combo score system. I'd love to play it, though I doubt Wild Arms on the SFC will ever lose its position as best in the genre.

I'm actually working with a friend trying to upload B rap boys to youtube. We are having sync problems with the jamma recorder. :(

B. rap is only 3 stages long though... and the Japan board I have is heavily edited from the US board.

Have it if you want to check it out. Visuals are prerendered CG and like previously said a bit uninspired.

Haha, the only big guy I like to use is Haggar. I hope my Zero Team hasn't suicided....

I'll be camming it, no direct feed.

My friend finally got his jamma recorder working, so I sent him my B.Rap boyz PCB. Expect a replay on youtube this weekend.

Haha seems like everyone is doing footage of B Rap Boys all at once. Someone just uploaded a full playthrough direct capture footage of the US version of game:

If I did that, wouldn't that mean that every other video posted here would also belong in that thread?

Wyvern F-0: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10823430

'New' Zero Team with the fucked up stage order (I guess what we really need is a vid of normal Zero Team considering most people seem to have this fucked up version): http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13450708

Nice finds. Didn't the MAME team get a hold of the Wyvern F-0 on YJ last year? It was quite pricey, but was a pretty pristine looking cab, if I do say so myself.
