If this inappropriate, Paul , please remove.
With Microsoft already shutting down the DLC servers for original XBOX titles (and also having retarded regional content blocking), I'm forced to look into obtaining DLC via other means. Several enterprising individuals have taken DLC and provided installers for them but they require a modded machine of course and now with Live going down on April 15, there is no reason to not have a modded machine.
Does anyone have recommendations on what the best route is for a modded XBOX? (I currently have an EVOX machine)
1) Softmod? Hardmod? Which mod exactly?
2) Best HDD?
3) Best DVD drive?
4) Where to obtain? _________________ become history

Man, haven't talked about Xbox modding in ages. I did an Evolution2 I think (hard mod) and it was a piece of piss. I have no idea if there were any tactics by Microsoft to circumvent this stuff.
I still have my box, and I think I'm going to keep it as I want to play JSRF w/o lag, and they're apparently never going to fix JSFR emulation on the 360.
What content exactly is available via installers? Addons, or full on games? Not sure of any DL only games on the original that would float my boat, but you never know. _________________

Add-on content (including pay) such as:
Project Gotham 2 - extra cars
Splinter Cell - extra levels (1 of them MIA in JP)
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow - extra vs levels
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - extra co-op (not available in JP) and vs levels
ToeJam & Earl III - extra characters/levels (not in JP obviously)
Some of these were only available outside of Japan so no way to get them unless you had a US Live account/US console/US game. _________________ become history

It's no good, huh? That's one of a handful of XBox titles I'm looking to pick up, but from what I see on various compatibility lists, there really aren't too many titles that are 100% glitch free. Almost makes it worth picking up an original XBox--certainly cheap enough, though I'm not sure where I'd put the damn thing. _________________ You also distaste me with passion! |

JSRF is kind of hte bastard in my "gotta have titles". I really go on nostalgia... and this came out well into my realization that new game were going to shit. However, it was really good, and reminded me of the original DC release which was the LAST time I was excited for multiple new games coming out.
Those days are over... the only thing I really look forward to in terms fo "new" are new MAME drivers. Now I'll go cry myself to sleep. _________________
