Everytime a new Sonic game comes out, and fails miserably, I would say "Why don't they just make a new Sonic in 3D but from a horizontal scrolling perspective." This is what fans have been screaming for. Everytime characters started to wield fire arms, kiss humans, turn into werehogs, or wield swords, the fans would break down into tears. These were traumatic experiences that many have since attempted to repress.
Now Please Watch this trailer.
I am excited. This could spark the return of Sonic if they go all out.
I think the 2010 with the rings is a nice touch.
I also think, that if Sega screws this up, Sonic will unresurectable in the eyes of fans.
The number one design decision they need to nail with this game is the graphical style. They need to stop modeling environments like real life. Sonic Adventure made it "okay" for developers to start doing that with Sonic, and now we have garbage like Unleashed where Sonic is running around in Spain or something knocking over picnic tables on cobblestone streets. * yawn * boring....
They need to bring back the neon green grass, the sparkling waterfalls, and the checkboard patterned caves. Levels should look like a surreal hamster paradise. I want the sky to be as blue as 0,51,255.
I want so desperatly for this game to be great. Only time will tell. _________________ www.onlineconsoles.com |

Is there still someone hoping to get a good Sonic game?
Beside, there was a single good Sonic game, EVER?! |

I don't get excited until there's penetration. But, I've got high hopes. _________________

I've got some good fan art for you then...
But yeah, "Sonic back to his roots" has been the catchphrase since Adventure 2. _________________

Blue sky in games!
I know it's tongue-in-cheek, but how very appropriate for the Sonic series.
I hope it's either sprites or the hand-drawn look of e.g. Vanillaware (not likely, but hey); anything less wouldn't be a full concession from Sega that they've fucked the concept into the ground from the second Dreamcast outing and are very sorry. _________________ You also distaste me with passion! |

I don't mean to hurt your feelings or anything, but I'm pretty sure there's been more good Sonic games than good Mappy games. _________________ |

Me?
I don't hold out much hope, mind... but the return to 2D can't be a bad move, considering the series nosedived from the aborted Sonic Xtreme and the should've-been-aborted Sonic 3D Blast onward.
And I am so on board with that Blue Sky Games campaign. Heck yes. _________________ http://www.lscmainframe.net/ |
