I hate games on the iPhone, but this would be a good time waster on the train or when you're stuck in an airport.

I had puzzle bobble on my old sanyo cellphone. It was so touchy on the d-pad you really had to be bored to keep playing

I really can't take the iPhone/iPod Touch seriously as a gaming machine. Sure, it's got some neat offerings and decent enough hardware, but I can't get past the fact that you're rubbing your greasy fingers all across the screen the whole time. I'm anal enough about keeping my current cellphone and DS screens smudge- and dust-free, so there's just no way I could ever use something that requires me to keep a full cleaning kit on hand at all times. _________________ You also distaste me with passion! |

The Iphone has been surprisingly decent as a games machine for me.
That said, a lot of the newer stuff seems to have basically went through the "test on 3GS, is it okay? release it!" and as a result more and more new games are running like poop on the regulard 3G phones. I hear Puzzle Bobble is the same (since a few firm wares ago too - my iphone has been spluttering a bit).
Anyways, Drop 7 is a frigging awesome little puzzle game. I was so impressed i'd started doing an XNA version for my own private use on the X360 but i got a friendly note from the devs and since have been working on a few original things. Needless to say it's insanely addictive.
Flight Control is similarly a very simple idea but extremely well executed.
Space Invaders: Infinity Gene started off life on other phones, but translates fairly well to the iphone. having to drag your finger across the screen to move your ship means you are often obscuring your view but the graphics style , music and gameplay mean it wins through. _________________ Standing beneath the shade of the average tree |
