I meant to ask... wtf is up w/ the resolution in this game? When I run it, there's two black bars on the side but it's not interlaced and everything seems to fit.

Does waiting for black-tinted enemies to appear on screen lower your points? I just got a score of 1.

I think so, never really bothered to break all of them stools in the bar though.

It's repetative and ugly. Death Adder is cheap.

I don't think it's ugly. The scaling parts don't look as good as if it were hand drawn, but then again the scaling hasn't been emulated properly yet.

Is Death Adder cheaper than he is in the first game (automatic magic if you fall down?)

I don't think Death Adder in GA1 was very much cheap, although quite a leap from the well-balanced learning curve that is throughout the beginning of the game - once you get the skeletons out of the way it's a piece of cake. I played the arcade version, I bet the final boss of the Mega Drive conversion (not Death Adder, IIRC) is harder.

No, Death Adder in this sequel is something entirely different. He's just too unpredictable in relation to how fast you have to move and how accurately you have to approach him. I praticed him quite a lot with save states but I simply couldn't stand it. Oh, and you cannot use magic. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I have absolutely no idea what that is.

Anyway, a big concern for me with this game was all the boss pattern rehash. They all have the exact same attack patterns and you have to face each of them three times during the game. It doesn't feel as strategical in general compared to the first Golden Axe, just very monotoneous and uninteresting.

Neither did I ever fall for the presentation. Some of the animations look sweet, as well as some really cool bakgrounds but the character designs are pretty cheezy looking. And don't get me started on the music... :I

It's important to note that this score is only possible on the US version, as there are 2 more stages (you go back and play the stages you skipped previously).

Replay is on youtube (can't post link yet - search for "revenge death adder universe"). A very cheap tactic to easily beat Death Adder is shown there

I heard you can use magic on a mid-air enemy to double or triple the amount of points you get from them.

That's possible in the first GA at least (watch Gemant's videos). I always thought it was a scoring bug, I'd be surprised to see it in the sequel too but for all I know it might be there.

Yesterday I saw a replay at MARP where the player scores 1059 points in this game. In general he played just like I did in my replay, with one exception: he always tried to drop enemies in holes, water etc, so that must give you more points.

Are you using Trix? You'll get far in the game just by using him. Think of his magic as an extension of the lifebar. The more potions you get, the bigger your lifebar is.

Other than that, learn to hit the enemies without being hit back. Go up and down to avoid attacks and abuse of the running attack on bosses.
