Watched those for the first time just now.

***SPOILERS***

For that first link (30 second version), I was rolling my eyes at the blatant sexualisation/sex in advertising (the panty shot from behind). I thought to myself: "What's next after this? Two naked girls performing tribadism on top of the car with close-up camera angle views? Are we living in Idiocracy already?"

Then "she" turned around to the camera and "she" was completely bare-chested and not hiding it. "Oh okay, it's just a fuckin' trick, he's not a she. Well done, I'm hope you're proud of yourselves!"

Then I gave it a little thought and I guess this ad does actually make an interesting point. Since this is a guy, it is perfectly acceptable to show his nipples. If it was a woman and she showed her nipples, there would be worldwide condemnation, with cries of "will somebody please think of the children?" and calls for boycotts of Toyota. I haven't checked yet (like I said, I learned of this video just now from the post) but I'm pretty sure that won't happen. Because male nipples are completely okay, while females nipples are evil.

Overall, it's still sensationalist bullshit, but at least it pointed out an interesting double standard (the double standard is old news to me but at least awareness of it has increased via this ad).

Another funny thing are the people on internet forum threads going "yeah, I knew it was a guy from the beginning" or "that hip/legs/ass/etc don't resemble a woman's" or denials to that effect. Somehow, I don't completely believe their claims. Or even if their claims are true, the true nature of the advertisements was probably hinted at beforehand. (Edit: Some people still think she's female even after the big reveal! Hah!)

I don't really get those claims anyway (e.g. "that doesn't look like a female ass"). This guy looks more feminine than most females I see on the street. Heck, he looks better than some female Hollywood celebrities (in terms of facial features). I'm not knocking on the guy (good for him/her) and I have no problems with him. But it's saying something when a male does a better job of being a feminine female than actual genetic females, when femininity should be their "natural" "talent".

So it's a good idea you posted the links without saying anything more or hinting at anything because I, as a reasonable person, assumed it was a female.
