Ibara Black. And I really suck at it. Can't even break the default 10 million score yet. :(

Lots and lots of Etrian Odyssey on the bus/train rides into work, and not much else. I've made it down to B10F, and I'm about ready to tackle the boss on that floor.

I've been developing homebrew games lately instead of playing 'em. Funny how I get so obsessed with one that I don't have time for the other.

PC at the moment. I'm finishing off a tiny game for this contest, and then it's back to a clone of Heiankyo Alien that I've had kicking around my hard drive for a couple of years now. With this new project, I've developed a lot of code that will make the older project get done more smoothly, so I'm looking forward to that - and also finally releasing a 100% finished game! :p

That's one of the best contest ideas I've ever heard! I wish you the best of luck, and hope you'll send us a notice once you've finished!

EEE is pretty cool, man. Diggin that siggy. It can be a little frustrating to play for score, but for a semi-shooter on the go it's pretty damn good.
Speaking of PSP, did you get the new one? First impressions?

StarFox Command (DS) - Decent so far, some good ideas. Can't stand the art direction though. Yuck.

Soul Hackers (SS)

Steel Empire (GBA)

Ai Senshi Nikoru (FDS)

Playing the Ibara-port at home right now. It's really hard, but I find it entertaining. Not too complicated system and good level design (pretty much like any other Cave-game, heh).

When in game centers I usually give Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5, Ketsui and Muchimuchi Pork one credit each.

Original or Maniac? I did Maniac first. Took me ages as I would take 3-6 week breaks (parenthood). Original only took 8 credits to finally get a 1CC after that. ;)

I'm playing Omega Fighter Special. So can't wait for STGT07 to be over. Having a hard time getting excited over any of these.

I'm also playing Ibara Black. Got to the last boss (no remains or bombs, so yeah --- kinda fucked there).

on original im at the last boss everytime and on maniac i get to stage 5 sometimes so id say both are pretty near, but currently im consumed by DDP (funny how things work) so i guess ill be a while still.

later on im actually gonna give ultra a shot on this i think, i credit fed thru it the other night and stage 1 is definetly the hardest, i actually made it thru stage 4 on a no miss and no bomb (to the boss which killed the shit out of me) so with careful bombuseage i might be able to get a decent score on it.
stage 1 is fucking ridiculous tho, takes me 2-3credits alone to get thru O_o only made it to stage 2 once on a single credit.

Not going to try ULTRA w/o owning the board. Just not worth it. :)

PS3 : Heavenly Sword - just finished. A bit on the short side and way too easy. Technically amazing at times, lip syncing in the realtime cuts is off the chart.

X360 : Halo 3 - finished. Story is a mess, and there is a big deja vu feeling , but the action is fantastic.

Wii : Metroid Prime 3 - a hell of a lot better than i expected it to be

PSP :
Every Extend Extra - so addictive, so awesome.

PS1 via PSP :
Gaiaseed - pre-sale final run through. Love the music.
Wipeout 3 - taking time to dust off the cobwebs and get back up to speed.

MD via PSP :
Brian Lara`s cricket ... i can`t stop playing! I know it`s rubbish, but i can`t STOP... HALP!

PSP homebrew :
Cave Story - brilliant - utterly brilliant.

It's finally out? I've been wanting to play this on my PSP, but ever since that (homemade?) boxart came out nothing seemed to happen. Eventually, I completely forgot about this game. Will give it a try after I finish Crisis Core.

the official release isn`t out but the PC version was converted to PSP and released as homebrew by the creator.

but yeah, it`s absolutely amazing - such a stunning game.

Dodonpachi courtesy of MAME. I get my practice on at home, then drop a few hundred yen into the machine on my weekly trip to Game Magma, with short Mushi Futari 1.5, Ketsui, and ESP Galuda II breaks to spice things up. I'm getting to the point where I can break 2.5 million on DDP's stage 1, and can often get to stage 3 without losing a single life and occasionally earn the 6 million point 1up, but every time I get to the arcade I play like a bitch and am lucky to place #5 on the default high score. I watched a full-game superplay and concluded that if I ever even make it to Hibachi's first form it will be nothing short of a miracle. The other three Cave games I play only for the fun and haven't a chance in hell of making any sort of impressive moves with them on the weekly game center allowance of 400 yen.

When I get tired of shooters I switch off to Melty Blood Act Cadenza Ver. B on my PC, which I would play much more often if my el-cheapo Elecom pad didn't like to throw in a jump when I'm sure I'm only doing QCF or QCB. I might have to get a cheap used Hori PS2 stick and USB adaptor at Sofmap and get some semblance of arcade fidelity going here. Plus, it would justify a trip to Akiba to hit the PCB shops for a replacement stick and buttons.

Beyond the PC I've been revisiting Nanostray on the DS and slowly trudging through Mother 3's hiragana and unknown-vocab hell.

hehe talk about setting your sights high, not only do you need to play thru the 2nd loop to face hibachi but you need to clear the first loop with a +50mil score aswell, good luck ;)

Exactly. At this point it's going to take a shit ton of practice to simply clear the first loop in one credit, so as I said--miracle! :(

Popped in De La Jet Set Radio for an hour or so today. It has serious engine problems when compared to JSR:Future but the theme is so well done... I play this at least once a year.

What's the difference between normal Jet Set/Grind Radio and De La Jet Set Radio?

When Jet Set Radio was released in the west, Smilebit added a few new levels and some western music to it (Rob Zombie, Jurassic 5). This "updated" version was then rereleased in Japan as De La Jet Set Radio.

I really should go back to JSR sometime soon. Definitely one of my favorite games from that period. Absolutely loved it. I really didn't get along with the sequel, as they fucked up the aesthetics of the game (the one thing that really made the first game).

So if one already has the western release, there's not much reason to hunt down a copy of De La, content-wise?
